Woking Best Bar None will be open for applications until 21 September 2018. However, we recommend applying as soon as possible.
The scheme focuses on raising public perception of licensed premises within the Borough and offers each venue an opportunity to demonstrate how they implement the four key licensing objectives:
- prevention of crime and disorder
- public safety
- prevention of public nuisance
- protection of children from harm
You can apply online and once you have completed your application, a convenient time will be arranged for an inspection to be carried out. Each inspection should last between two to three hours and consists of a thorough examination of the procedures and processes in place at your premises.
Inspections are based on essential, desired and bonus elements – see the Woking Best Bar None application guide. During the assessment, you should be aware that assessors may ask for documentation.
In order to be considered for a higher award, premises must achieve accreditation and score highly in the desired elements (this can be achieved for good practice which goes beyond the essential criteria) and bonus elements (achieved where the applicant demonstrates additional or innovative work practices).
The best three premises in each category will then be submitted to a panel of judges who decide on the winners in the following categories:
- Overall Best Bar None Woking
- Woking News & Mail Peoples’ Choice Award
- Best Bar
- Best Local Pub
- Best Town Centre Pub
- Best Dining Experience
- Asahi UK Community Engagement Awards (for premises that demonstrate local charity and community work)
On validation of your application to Woking Best Bar None, you will be provided with advertising materials that support you in promoting the public vote. Should you require additional materials, please contact us.
